Money.
The trouble with a real good financial crisis is that is gives us all such a great excuse for not getting things funded and into production. That being said, I feel obliged to publicly congratulate Belinda Chayko, who’s film LOU will be going into production later this year. The script absolutley sings itself off the page, and I am sure the film will be gorgeous. Keep an eye out for it. I met Belinda, at last September’s International Coproduction something-or-other, put on by IFP New York – and I am still thinking about her script, which I may actually read again – yes, it is genuinely that good.
Meanwhile, back on the ranch, we here are developing www.makeplaylearn.com – a new project that will publish creative digital teaching materials for the early childhood education sector. Vincent Murphy is looking after the design, Ken Kiernan is focusing on the music, Ned Dowd will be producing/directing the film elements, and David A. Reilly is looking after our legal affairs. We’ve also redesigned the website for In the Company of Books Ltd. – have a look.
And, from the Feel-Good Department, please send a dollar to the nice folks at the Level Playing Field Institute – they aren’t complaining about injustice, they’re simply trying to do what’s right. Brilliant.
